Occupennial Prospectus

[NOTE: The entry below is one of our first attempts at defining what would eventually become Occupy with Art.]

The Wall Street Occupennial is an artist action in conjunction with and support of Occupy Wall Street. We invite artists to submit ideas for artist actions and interventions in the context of ongoing protest at Liberty Plaza/Zuccotti Park, in the heart of Manhattan's financial district. Guidelines for submissions will help artists create projects that are successful (and safe) in conjunction with OWS.

Opportunities for participation in exhibits, auctions, performances and social engagement will also be outlined here on an ongoing basis, as those opportunities emerge. The Occupennial Art Database will serve as a facilitator wherever possible for all submitted projects that are safe and supportive of OWS goals and culture. We encourage any artist anywhere to propose ideas for occupation-art to happen here and anyplace else an occupation is happening.

Please keep in mind that the Occupennial is driven by volunteers. We will do our best to be responsive to your submissions in a timely fashion. Given the fluid nature of OWS, participants should be aware that circumstances can change on short notice.
